Glenfiddich Gran Reserva combines prolonged maturation with a carefully chosen Caribbean rum finish. The single malt first matures for 21 years in American oak casks. It then spends four months finishing in hand-selected casks that previously held Gran Reserva rum. This stage adds toffee, fig, vanilla sweetness, lime, ginger and exotic spices to its mature Speyside character.

Malt Master Brian Kinsman personally selects every finishing cask. The rum-cask stage deliberately shapes the character of this official bottling: peppery spice, oak, lime and a subtle smoky note join the sweet fruit. The whisky is offered at 40% in a 0.7-litre bottle and comes in a premium box.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals intense vanilla sweetness with floral notes and a hint of banana. Fig, rich toffee, fresh leather and oak add to the aromas.
• Palate: The whisky starts softly on the palate, then becomes lively, drier and peppery. Oak, a hint of smoke, lime, ginger and exotic spices also emerge.
• Finish: The finish lingers for a very long time and is warming, dry and spicy.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glenfiddich Distillery in Dufftown belongs to William Grant & Sons. William Grant built the distillery with his nine children, and spirit first flowed from its stills on Christmas Day 1887. The company remains entirely family-owned. The distillery has its own cooperage to maintain the casks and an on-site coppersmith who looks after the stills.

Gran Reserva is an official Glenfiddich bottling. The distillery produces the whisky, which develops its character during its long maturation and subsequent rum finish. Brian Kinsman personally selects the rum casks for the four-month finishing period.
