Special Features:

This Glenlossie matured for 13 years in a single Hogshead. Distilled in 2011, the whisky was bottled in 2024 from cask 1290 for the Glens & Valleys range by Berry Bros. & Rudd. It has an alcohol content of 56.2%, retains its natural colour and is non-chill-filtered.

This single-cask bottling combines floral and fruity impressions with malty sweetness and restrained spice. It was bottled at cask strength.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: On the nose, green apple and sweet pear mingle with floral heather and a delicate vanilla note. Floral honey and soft malt round out the aromas.
  • Palate: On the palate, honeyed sweetness and barley malt meet a hint of white pepper and zesty lemon. The whisky is full-bodied and structured, with pronounced fruit and milk chocolate. A gentle wave of spice is followed by green herbal notes.
  • Finish: The medium-long to long finish is creamy and malty, with almond notes and gentle oak spice. Fruit and creamy vanilla linger. The nuttiness builds, turning the chocolate impression into nougat; delicate citrus and herbal notes remain at the end.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glenlossie is located at Thomshill, south of Elgin in Speyside. John Duff founded the distillery in 1876 with several partners. Its whisky is mainly used in blends, making Glenlossie comparatively rare as a single malt. The stills are fitted with purifiers, which help produce a relatively light distillery style that is also oily and textured. A combination of short and long fermentation times contributes to the spirit's green, grassy character.

Berry Bros. & Rudd is responsible for this independent bottling. The family-run London wine and spirits merchant traces its origins to a grocery shop opened in 1698 and still trades from No. 3 St James's Street. The oldest surviving record of a Scotch cask bottling under its own name dates from 1853. Selecting and releasing individual whiskies therefore has a long history within the company.
