Just once a year, Glenmorangie distils a spirit from heavily roasted Chocolate Malt for Signet. The roasting gives the whisky its pronounced coffee and chocolate character. Whisky from bourbon casks contributes creaminess, while sherry-cask whisky adds sweetness and new charred oak casks bring spice. Some of the distillery’s oldest stocks complete the selection.

Bitter mocha and espresso sit alongside dark chocolate, toffee and butterscotch, with caramel, orange and dried fruit adding further notes. Spicy oak contrasts with the sweetness, while the texture is velvety. The refreshed 2025 presentation includes a premium box. This single malt is bottled at 46% without chill filtration.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, espresso and dark chocolate combine with mocha, toffee and toasted spices.
• Palate: Signet is full and velvety on the palate. Mocha, chocolate orange and creamy malt meet cinnamon and a malt note that grows drier.
• Finish: The long finish brings together bitter cocoa, lingering coffee and sweet spice, with fresh citrus notes providing a counterpoint.

Distillery/Bottler:

William and Anne Matheson founded Glenmorangie in 1843 near Tain in the Scottish Highlands. There, the Distillers of Tain use exceptionally tall stills to produce the heavily roasted malt spirit that goes into Signet. Glenmorangie brings together whiskies matured in different casks and bottles the result itself. Today, the distillery belongs to Moët Hennessy within the LVMH group.
