After its initial maturation in Bourbon Hogsheads, this Glenrothes underwent a two-year finish in four First Fill Pedro Ximénez sherry barriques from Ximénez-Spinola. Murray McDavid works with the Jerez wine producer for this finishing stage. Distilled in 2012, the Single Malt was bottled in autumn 2024 at twelve years old and 54.1% for the Benchmark range. Casks 2200811 to 2200814 yielded a total of 1,617 bottles.
The PX finish adds dessert-like accents to this fruity Speyside malt. Coffee and chocolatey berries mingle with vanilla, while creamy malt, mocha and baking spices shape the palate. Baked apple, cocoa and cinnamon round out the profile. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Glenrothes was founded in Rothes in 1879 and belongs to Edrington. The distillery uses slow distillation in tall stills and has sought to produce a lighter, elegant Speyside spirit since its foundation.
Murray McDavid is responsible for the further maturation and bottling of this edition. The independent bottler was founded in 1994 by London wine merchants Mark Reynier and Simon Coughlin, together with Gordon Wright of Springbank. Selecting unusual maturation casks, particularly former wine casks, has been part of its approach from the outset. Today, Murray McDavid belongs to Aceo and is based at the former Coleburn Distillery site in Speyside.
