Special Features:

This Speyside single malt comes from cask 499493. It was distilled at Glenrothes in December 2013 and bottled by Duncan Taylor in January 2024 after ten years. The release comprises 819 bottles at 53.6%; the whisky is not chill-filtered and contains no added colouring. Berries, rum-soaked raisins and nuts shape its character, while cinnamon and oak provide a spicy, woody contrast to the sweet fruit.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, ripe banana, dark blackberries and sweet rum-soaked raisins mingle with vanilla. Roasted hazelnuts and a hint of cinnamon complement the fruit.
• Palate: On the palate, cherries and raspberries meet creamy vanilla. Bold oak and spicy cinnamon give the flavour a full-bodied structure.
• Finish: Wood and cinnamon remain present in the lingering finish. Almonds and hazelnuts linger gently.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glenrothes is situated in Rothes in Speyside, beside the Burn of Rothes. Distillation has taken place there since December 1879. The distillery uses tall stills and deliberately slow distillation, extending the rising alcohol vapour’s contact with copper and encouraging a lighter, fruit-led spirit character.

Glenrothes produced the malt; Duncan Taylor selected the whisky from cask 499493 for its independent single-cask bottling. Duncan Taylor stores and monitors its cask stocks in Huntly. Its own cooperage and bottling facilities allow it to maintain the casks and subsequently bottle the whisky.
