Special Features:

After maturing in Bourbon Hogsheads, this Glentauchers spent three years finishing in first fill Tokaji wine barriques. These barriques had previously held Tokaji from north-eastern Hungary. Murray McDavid brought together the whisky from the five casks numbered 2100045 to 2100049 and bottled this Speyside single malt, distilled in 2010, in autumn 2024 at 14 years old and 52.1%. This Benchmark edition comprises 1,709 bottles.

The bottling combines stone fruit and waxy citrus notes with creamy malt and floral accents. The Tokaji finish complements Glentauchers' light, fruity character. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals apricot and poached peach alongside a waxy lemon note.
• Palate: Creamy malt, sweet citrus fruit and elderflower come together on the palate.
• Finish: Honeydew melon and soft stone-fruit notes linger in the long finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glentauchers is located at Mulben, near Keith in Speyside. James Buchanan and W.P. Lowrie founded the distillery in 1897; its foundation stone was laid on 29 May on the grounds of Tauchers Farm. Its light, fruity malt plays an important role in blended Scotch, particularly Ballantine's. The distillery operates three wash stills and three spirit stills and also serves as a training facility within Chivas Brothers for the manual operation of whisky production.

Murray McDavid handled the further maturation and bottling of this edition. The independent bottler was founded in 1994 by wine merchants Mark Reynier and Simon Coughlin, together with Gordon Wright of Springbank. Selecting former wine casks has been part of its approach from the outset. Today, Murray McDavid is based at the Coleburn Distillery site in Speyside, where it continues its carefully targeted maturation in different cask types.
