Entirely tropical maturation shapes this eight-year-old Pure Single Rum from Hampden Estate. It spends its full maturation period in Jamaica and comes exclusively from the Hampden distillery. This bottling combines a pronounced ester character with tropical fruit notes and is suited to both sipping neat and mixing in cocktails.

Production involves particularly long fermentation with natural yeasts and distillation exclusively in copper double-retort pot stills. These batch-operated stills have two retorts connected downstream. Natural spring water is used during production. These methods contribute to the rum's ester-rich, intensely aromatic style.

The rum contains no added sugar or colouring and is not chill-filtered. It is bottled at 46% in a bottle containing 0.7 litres and comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is rich and intense, with ripe banana, allspice, dried orange peel and baked apple defining the aroma.
• Palate: Ginger and vanilla linger on the palate alongside dark chocolate and coffee beans. Resinous notes and chocolate confectionery flavours round out the taste.
• Finish: The long finish leaves waxy notes.

Hampden Estate is located in Trelawny, Jamaica, and was founded in 1753. The distillery is known for heavy, ester-rich pot still rums. Its methods, passed down since the 18th century, combine long natural fermentation, spring water and copper stills to create a distinctive distillery style.

In 2009, Hampden Estate began laying down its own production for maturation. Its first official aged bottlings reached the market in 2018. The eight-year-old rum forms part of this development, making the distillery's characteristic style available under its own name as an entirely tropically matured rum.
