Special Features:

Haran matures for at least twelve years in oak casks of different origins and toast levels before the whiskey receives a finish in former Port wine casks. This original bottling comprises 2,643 bottles at 43% ABV. Haran means “valley” in Basque, a reference to the Valle de Ayala, where the distillery is based.

Berries and strawberries shape its fruity side, while candied citrus and vanilla custard add brighter, creamier notes. White chocolate, mint, malt and toast complete the profile; brown rock sugar lingers on the finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, strawberries and candied citrus meet creamy vanilla custard, with red berries and malt adding to the aroma.
• Palate: On the palate, berry jam and white chocolate mingle with malt and a fresh note of mint.
• Finish: Brown rock sugar and toasted bread linger on the finish, accompanied by a light herbal sweetness and notes of plum and blackcurrant.

Distillery/Bottler:

The history of Destilerías Manuel Acha began in 1831 with a distillery producing spirits and liqueurs in Bilbao. The business has been based in Amurrio, in the Basque Valle de Ayala, since 1884. The Acha family took it over towards the end of the 19th century and has run it for five generations. Copper stills acquired in 1892 remained in use there for more than a century. After training in Scotland, a family member brought back knowledge of whiskey production in 1926. Destilerías Acha produces and bottles Haran itself.
