Kavalan Single Malt combines whiskies matured in bourbon, sherry, wine and refill casks. This cask selection shapes the Classic bottling, bringing together different influences from cask maturation.

Tropical fruit and floral notes mingle with vanilla, honey and coconut. The whisky feels soft and silky, with spice, gentle warmth and woody notes complementing its fruity, floral character. A light wine note emerges in the background. It is bottled at 40% alcohol.

The bottle's shape is also part of this release's identity: its outline echoes the silhouette of Taipei 101, visibly linking the whisky to its Taiwanese origins. The 0.7-litre bottle comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals tropical fruit, particularly mango, and floral notes of butterfly orchids. Hints of honey, pear drops, vanilla and coconut are joined by a subtle chocolate note.
• Palate: Despite its restrained power, the whisky has a fairly dense texture at 40% alcohol. Its flavours shift quickly from mango and passion fruit to more pronounced, lightly toasted wood, vanilla and cinnamon. Honey and floral lily notes remain present alongside the drier side of wood and spice. A freshness reminiscent of mint and fern runs through the background.
• Finish: Tropical fruit opens the rather short finish before giving way to citrus and delicate woody notes. Considerably less of the palate's freshness remains in the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Kavalan Distillery is located in Yilan in northeastern Taiwan. It produces a fruity, floral new make spirit from unpeated malted barley. During distillation, only a short portion of the heart of the run is selected, known as the spirit cut. This selection contributes to the concentrated character of the spirit.

Kavalan has been producing whisky in Yilan since 2006. Maturation in Taiwan's subtropical conditions is central to the distillery's style and shapes the interaction between spirit and cask. Kavalan Single Malt is one of the distillery's official bottlings.
