Special Features:

For this limited 13-year-old single malt, Kilchoman combined whisky mainly from ex-bourbon barrels with portions from octaves and Calvados casks. The distillery introduced the release in February 2025. Each bottle contains 0.7 litres of whisky, bottled at 50% without chill filtration or added colouring.

Ex-bourbon barrels account for the largest part of the composition, while the Calvados casks contribute green apple and fresh fruit. Lemon zest, pear, pineapple and cherry meet maritime peat smoke. Toffee, honey, hazelnut and brioche add to this contrast, while lavender and other flowers bring floral accents.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, lemon zest, lavender and lilies mingle with toffee and ripe pear. Cool peat smoke accompanies the floral and fruity notes.
• Palate: The palate brings cherry and pineapple, alongside roasted hazelnuts and sweet brioche. Pronounced smoke contrasts with the fruit and pastry notes.
• Finish: The finish is long-lasting: honey and delicate pastry notes linger with fruity accents as the peat smoke gradually fades.

Distillery/Bottler:

Anthony and Kathy Wills established Kilchoman on Islay by restoring derelict farm buildings. When production began in 2005, it was the island's first new distillery in more than 124 years. Kilchoman remains independent and family-run, with many production steps carried out with little automation. It malts some of its barley on site on traditional malting floors: the team turns it by hand and dries the germinated malt using Islay peat. Anthony Wills also oversees the composition of the distillery's releases. This limited 13-year-old single malt is made at Kilchoman and bottled by the distillery itself.
