Special Features:

Sanaig brings Kilchoman's powerful peat smoke together with a pronounced sherry influence. Whiskies matured in bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks are married to create it. The high Oloroso proportion adds dried fruit and spices alongside the spirit's citrus sweetness and smoke.

The name refers to a bay on Islay's Atlantic coast. Sanaig is part of the distillery's permanent range; this miniature contains 0.05 litres at 46% and comes without gift packaging. The double-distilled Single Malt has no added colouring and is not chill-filtered.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, fragrant heather, raisins, pear and orange peel mingle with stone fruit, mixed spices and powerful peat smoke.
• Palate: On the palate, overripe plums, red cherries and delicate citrus notes give way to powerful peat smoke with a barbecue character. Toffee, oak and dark chocolate add further layers.
• Finish: On the finish, a blend of fruit, caramel, cinnamon and clove coats the mouth. Brown sugar, further spices and peat smoke accompany the lingering sweetness.

Distillery/Bottler:

Anthony and Kathy Wills founded Kilchoman in 2005 as a family business at Rockside Farm on Islay. The distillery combines farming with whisky production: for its separate 100% Islay range, it grows barley in the surrounding fields and malts it on its own malting floors, where the germinating grain is turned by hand. Growing its own barley is a distinctive part of the distillery's approach.

Kilchoman's production methods include fermentation lasting around 90 hours and small, manually controlled pot stills. The long fermentation encourages the formation of fruity and creamy, buttery aroma compounds; the size and shape of the stills ensure extensive copper contact. The Single Malts are bottled at the distillery.
