Mandarina Dry Gin puts mandarin rather than juniper centre stage. This evolution of Gin Eleven combines it with orange, lime, grapefruit and blood orange. The recipe contains eleven botanicals in total, also including ginger, thyme, lemongrass, lemon balm and liquorice root.

The distillery introduced Mandarina in 2020. Its smooth character when enjoyed neat and its pronounced citrus profile also make it an interesting choice for a gin and tonic. The gin is bottled at 41% in a 0.5-litre bottle and contains no colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose recalls fruit sweets dusted with icing sugar, accompanied by very subtle juniper and lemon balm. Provençal herbs emerge later. Mandarin peel is followed by lime and a little orange, with hints of mandarin cake and almonds alongside.
• Palate: On the palate, mandarin stands out clearly from the other citrus notes. The fruit sweetness has a tart edge and is accompanied by gentle bitter notes.
• Finish: The finish brings together tart and sweet impressions with herbal and floral notes. Mandarin peel remains discernible.

Distillery/Bottler:

Brennerei Henrich in Kriftel grew out of the Obsthof am Berg fruit farm. After Horst Henrich acquired distilling rights in 1983, the family began turning surplus apples, damsons, mirabelle plums and pears into fruit brandies. The previous production limits were lifted when the bonded distillery began operating in 2006. That same year, the business began ageing cider brandy in wooden casks.

Today, brothers Holger and Ralf Henrich run the family business in its third generation. Both studied beverage technology; Ralf also trained as a winemaker and gained experience as a cellar master. Alongside gin, the range includes fruit brandies, liqueurs and gilors Single Malt Whisky.
