Special Features:

A 14-month finish in a European oak Oloroso-PX hogshead used for whisky for the first time shapes this Mannochmore without obscuring its fresh pear and apple notes. Distilled in February 2013, the single malt was bottled from cask #378492 in 2025 after twelve years of maturation. The release comprises 284 bottles of 0.7 litres at a cask strength of 52.7% ABV. The whisky has no added colour and is not chill-filtered.

Figs, raisins, dark sugar syrup and nuts appear alongside the fresh orchard fruit. On the palate, dates, chocolate and maple syrup complement the fruit, while oak and pepper add spice.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: Conference pear and Pink Lady apple meet Toffee Crisp, figs and candyfloss on the nose. Raisins, ripe plums, dark sugar syrup, toasted nuts and a delicate herbal spice complete the aromas.
  • Palate: Summer fruit salad and cream meet maple syrup, dates and chocolate on the palate. The texture is oily, with oak and a pinch of pepper adding spice.
  • Finish: The very long, dry finish brings dried currants, raisins and a hint of almond. Oak and delicate spice accompany the fading fruit, leaving a trace of liquorice.

Distillery/Bottler:

Mannochmore was founded in 1971 in Birnie, south of Elgin, opposite the older Glenlossie distillery. Its Speyside malt often goes into blended Scotch; this single-cask bottling offers it as a single malt in its own right.

Independent bottler James Eadie selected this Mannochmore for further maturation in a first-fill European oak Oloroso-PX hogshead and bottled the whisky in 2025. The brand recalls the Scottish brewer James Eadie: a Scotch made to a family recipe was once served in more than 300 of his pubs. Today, his great-great-grandson Rupert Patrick runs the company.
