The Patridom Tasting Set brings together three spirits from the Dominican Republic with different maturation periods. The gift box contains Gran Reserva at 40%, Selección Exclusiva at 40% and XO at 42%, each in a 0.05-litre miniature. The set contains 0.15 litres in total. Plant motifs decorate the packaging, while a window provides a direct view of the selection.

The differences begin with the raw material and maturation period: Gran Reserva is made from fresh sugar cane juice and aged for four to six years. Selección Exclusiva is based on molasses and combines maturation periods of six to twelve years; XO, also made from molasses, matures for twelve to fifteen years. All three age in American and French oak casks in the tropical climate of the Dominican Republic.

Fruit, sweetness and touches of vanilla, caramel and oak unite the trio. Selección Exclusiva adds its own distinctive accents: its aroma recalls warm pastries, fruitcake and pudding with plenty of vanilla and caramel. Pronounced notes of brown sugar, vanilla and coconut emerge on the palate, while the overall impression remains gentle and balanced.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Gran Reserva opens with juicy apricot and a slightly tart note on the nose. Brown sugar, milk chocolate and maple syrup develop from this. XO has a spicy aroma with beeswax. Lush, ripe fruit appears in the background.
• Palate: Gran Reserva is pleasantly sweet and light-bodied. A hint of vanilla and subtle coffee and dark chocolate notes round out the flavour. XO is full-bodied and balanced. Fruity notes mingle with delicate touches of vanilla and coconut.
• Finish: Dark caramel, vanilla, tobacco and cocoa linger in Gran Reserva’s long finish. XO has a long finish that remains smooth on the palate.

Distillery/Bottler:

Patridom combines the Spanish words “patrimonio” and “dominicano” to express Dominican heritage. The spirits are produced at Alcoholes Finos Dominicanos from sugar cane grown on its own plantations. Fermentation, distillation and maturation take place in the Dominican Republic, with distillation carried out in column stills.

The Danish company 1423 ApS is behind the brand. Its origins lie in a group of friends who entered the bottling business in 2008 after a rum tasting at a whisky fair. The name 1423 comes from the sample number of their first blend from Barbados and Trinidad. Esclavo 12 followed in 2012, and Patridom later emerged from that product family.
