Special Features:

This Dominican rum receives its bourbon cask finish in Scotland. It first matures in American oak casks, then in selected Bourbon Barrels from Kentucky. These are being used to mature rum for the first time and contribute buttery notes, toffee and vanilla. The double-matured Ron Larimar is at least five years old and is bottled at 40% in 0.7-litre bottles.

Molasses forms the base. Alongside the Bourbon Cask Finish, the range includes variants using casks for peated single malt, Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez. The bourbon variant combines sweet cask notes with tropical fruit and a gentle, spicy finish. It can be enjoyed neat, over ice or in cocktails.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Sweet vanilla and honey aromas emerge first. Soft nougat, toasted coconut and a hint of lemon zest follow.
• Palate: On the palate, milk chocolate, cooked pineapple and vanilla pod combine with sweet golden raisins and nutmeg.
• Finish: The finish is gentle and balanced. Mocha and baking spices linger.

Distillery/Bottler:

Angus Dundee Distillers is the company behind Ron Larimar. Founded in 1950, it owns the Scottish single malt distilleries Tomintoul in the Cairngorms National Park and Glencadam in Brechin in the Eastern Highlands, among others. For Ron Larimar, it applies its experience of Scotch whisky cask maturation to rum: the rum is distilled in the Dominican Republic and finished in Scotland’s cooler climate.

The brand takes its name from the rare blue larimar stone, found exclusively in the Dominican Republic. The brand connects the stone’s origin with its concept of giving Dominican rum further maturation through different cask finishes in Scotland.
