Finishing in First-Fill Oloroso Sherry Butts from Andalusia adds fruity and nutty notes to this Dominican rum. Before finishing, it matures in American oak casks. Its total maturation lasts at least five years, with the finishing stage taking place in Scotland.

The rum combines a soft, fruity character with chocolate, coffee and sweet spice. It is bottled at 40% alcohol in bottles containing 0.7 litres and can be enjoyed neat, over ice or in cocktails.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is bold and expressive, combining dried fruit with toffee and candied peel.
• Palate: Chocolate, butterscotch and fruitcake meet espresso and cinnamon on the palate.
• Finish: Sweet marzipan and burnt sugar linger on the long finish. These notes gradually give way to dark chocolate and gentle spices.

Distillery/Bottler:

Angus Dundee Distillers plc is the company behind Ron Larimar. Founded in 1950, it owns the Scottish whisky distilleries Tomintoul and Glencadam, among others. For Ron Larimar, it combines aged rum from the Dominican Republic with cask finishing in Scotland's cooler climate. Alongside Oloroso sherry finishes, the range includes versions finished in bourbon, Pedro Ximénez sherry and peated single malt casks.

The brand takes its name from the rare larimar stone, found only in the Dominican Republic. The name thus reflects the rum's Caribbean home.
