Royal Brackla 18 Year Old first matures in selected American oak casks that previously held bourbon, before receiving a finish in Palo Cortado sherry casks. For this additional maturation, the already matured whisky is transferred into casks that previously held sherry. Palo Cortado adds nutty accents to the distillery’s fruity character.

At 46%, this bottling offers creamy vanilla and soft fruit alongside citrus freshness, cocoa and rich spice. Fig adds to this complex interplay, while the full, velvety texture gives the whisky depth. The sherry finish also contributes subtle notes of green olive and tobacco. The whisky is bottled without chill filtration or added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose opens with warm spices and creamy vanilla, followed by juicy, soft fruit.
• Palate: The whisky feels soft and creamy on the palate. Vanilla sweetness, candied fruit and sweet cereal notes combine with cocoa and a fresh citrus note.
• Finish: The long finish combines sherry-influenced fruit with oak.

Distillery/Bottler:

Royal Brackla Distillery produces this 18-year-old Highland single malt, which belongs to its official age-stated range. Malt Master Stephanie Macleod selects sherry casks being used for whisky maturation for the first time and matches their sherry profile to each age expression. For the 18-year-old, she chooses Palo Cortado.

Captain William Fraser founded the distillery in 1812 on the Cawdor Estate near Nairn in the Scottish Highlands. He grew his own barley and was among the early whisky producers to supply London directly. In 1833, King William IV granted his whisky the first Royal Warrant awarded to a Scotch whisky. This royal recognition lies behind the name Royal Brackla and the designation The King’s Own Whisky.
