Speyburn 10 Year Old is the classic introduction to the distillery’s style. Its light, fruity spirit matures for ten years in oak casks. This official bottling is offered at 40% in a 0.7-litre bottle with gift packaging; the whisky is chill-filtered and contains added colouring.

Citrus and red apple give the whisky a fresh, fruity character. Toffee, butterscotch and apple pie provide a sweet counterpoint, while cinnamon adds a spicy note. The whisky is not smoky and has a long finish with vanilla and creamy toffee.

Distillery/Bottler:

John Hopkins founded Speyburn in 1897 in the Granty Burn valley near Rothes. Architect Charles C. Doig adapted the three-storey distillery to its steep site; the first cask was filled on the very last day of its founding year. Inver House Distillers acquired Speyburn in 1992. The brand now belongs to International Beverage. Speyburn produces the whisky for this ten-year-old official bottling.

Speyburn is the only distillery to use water from the Granty Burn. Both wooden and stainless-steel vessels are used for fermentation. The first distillation takes place in a large wash still, followed by a second distillation in two smaller spirit stills. Traditional worm tubs condense the alcohol vapour in copper pipes running through cold water. This approach combines the distillery’s light, fruity character with a full body.
