Special Features:

Speyburn Rum Cask first matures in bourbon casks before receiving a finish in rum casks. This change of cask brings together its floral Speyside character and tropical notes of pineapple, mango and warm banana.

Green apple and citrus peel complement the tropical fruit, while caramel, cinnamon and vanilla shape its sweet, spicy side. This was Speyburn's first bottling to receive a rum cask finish. It joined the refreshed core range in 2024 and is bottled at 40%.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals pineapple, mango and warm banana, complemented by citrus peel and green apple. Spicy vanilla and honey add further notes.
• Palate: On the palate, tropical fruits combine with soft caramel and a delicate cinnamon note. Creamy coconut and spicy vanilla complement the flavours.
• Finish: The finish feels fresh, with lingering vanilla.

Distillery/Bottler:

Speyburn Distillery in Rothes produces this single malt, which is released as an official bottling. John Hopkins founded the distillery beside the Granty Burn in 1897. To fit the buildings into the narrow valley, Charles C. Doig designed a layout across three levels. Speyburn has belonged to Inver House Distillers since 1992.

Speyburn still uses water from the Granty Burn. Fermentation takes place in wooden and stainless steel vessels. The first distillation in a large wash still is followed by a second distillation in two smaller spirit stills. Their traditional worm-tub condensers cool the vapour in copper pipes running through cold water. This combination is one of the defining features of the distillery's production methods.
