Finishing in Koval Quarter Casks links this Strathmill to four different American whiskey styles. Following its initial maturation in Bourbon Hogsheads, the whisky spent time in smaller casks from Koval Distillery in Chicago that had previously held Bourbon, Rye, Four Grain and Oat Whiskey. Distilled in 2014, it matured for a total of ten years and was bottled in spring 2024 for Murray McDavid's Benchmark range.

Strathmill's light, oily and fruity style meets vanilla sweetness, grassy accents and a bittersweet oak character in this whisky. The limited release comprises 1,174 bottles at 51.1%. It is non-chill-filtered and contains no colouring.

• Nose: The nose offers spiced pear and sweet apple, accompanied by vanilla and oak.
• Palate: On the palate, bright citrus notes combine with barley sugar sweetness and a grassy impression.

Distillery/Bottler:

Strathmill Distillery lies near the River Isla in Speyside. Its history began in 1892 with a grain mill that was converted into a distillery during the Scotch whisky boom of the time. Its light, oily and fruity spirit forms the foundation of this release; independent bottler Murray McDavid was responsible for selection, further maturation and bottling.

Murray McDavid was founded in 1994 by London wine merchants Mark Reynier and Simon Coughlin together with Gordon Wright of Springbank. Working with casks that had held a variety of drinks, particularly wine, became an early focus for the bottler. Today, Murray McDavid is based at Coleburn Distillery in Speyside. The collaboration with Koval on this Strathmill shows how the bottler also selects casks with different whiskey histories.
