Special Features:

The Sauvignon Blanc finish adds fresh and floral accents to this Speyside single malt's sweet, mellow distillery character. The whisky first matures in American ex-bourbon casks before continuing its development in casks previously used for Sauvignon Blanc white wine. Honeydew melon and vanilla complement Tamnavulin's underlying fruity character.

Introduced in 2022 after the red wine editions, the White Wine Cask Edition extends the range with a white wine influence. This bottling contains 0.7 litres at 40% alcohol and comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

  • Nose: The nose reveals green apple, banana, ripe honeydew melon and white peach. Fresh citrus notes and jasmine complement the aromas, while vanilla and coconut evoke a sweet cream.
  • Palate: On the palate, lemon and grapefruit mingle with baked apple tart. A hint of cinnamon adds a spicy accent, with ginger and lime pastries emerging towards the end of the palate.
  • Finish: The finish remains soft, sweet and fruity.

Distillery/Bottler:

Tamnavulin lies on the southern edge of Speyside, at the foot of the Cairngorm Mountains. The distillery was built in 1966 on the site of a historic woollen mill. Its Gaelic name means “mill on the hill”. The surviving mill and its wooden waterwheel remain a visible link to the site's history.

In 2010, Tamnavulin changed the shape of its stills to produce a fuller-bodied new make spirit particularly suited to maturation in wine casks. Distillation takes place in copper stills. The distillery uses the middle cut of the distillate for cask maturation, while the heads and tails are distilled again. Initial maturation in American ex-bourbon casks followed by finishing in another cask type shapes the approach behind today's bottlings.
