Finishing in first-fill Oloroso Sherry Butts shapes this eighteen-year-old Tomatin. Before this final stage, the Single Malt matures in traditional oak casks. Dried apricots, nougat and nutty notes give way to tropical fruit, complementing its sweet, oak-led character.

The whisky is bottled at 46% alcohol without chill filtration or added colouring. The bottle contains 0.7 litres and comes in gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, sweet sherry notes mingle with apple, cinnamon and vanilla.
• Palate: Honeyed sweetness and oak come to the fore first on the palate. Citrus notes and a hint of dark chocolate then emerge.
• Finish: The finish is long, sweet and slightly dry.

Distillery/Bottler:

Tomatin's history as an officially established distillery begins in 1897. The impetus came from plans to route the Highland Railway through the village: John MacDougall recognised an opportunity to establish a distillery. After an early closure, operations resumed in 1909. Over the following decades, Tomatin became an important supplier to the Scotch blending industry.

By 1974, Tomatin had 23 stills and was the world's largest malt distillery by production capacity. Following financial difficulties, Takara Shuzo and Okura & Co. took over the business in 1986. Tomatin made a visible move towards a greater focus on Single Malts in 2002, when unused stills were removed, leaving twelve. The classic Tomatin range has a light, soft and fruity house style and is made with unpeated malt.
