Special Features:

This Tormore matured for 18 years in a single barrel, number 1630. Distilled on 9 December 2005, it was bottled at cask strength on 2 July 2024 for The Single Malts of Scotland range. The barrel selected for Kirsch Import yielded 229 bottles at 53.4%. The whisky has no added colouring and was not chill-filtered; it comes in gift packaging.

Its sweet, nutty character brings together caramel and honey with roasted hazelnuts and almonds. Apple and dried apricot add fruit notes. On the palate, creamy vanilla, malt, cinnamon and nutmeg emerge, while oak gives the whisky structure and a spicy note in the finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, caramel and honey meet roasted hazelnuts, almonds, malt and vanilla. Ripe apple and dried apricot complement the sweet notes.
• Palate: The whisky feels soft and full-bodied on the palate. Malty sweetness, caramelised nuts and creamy vanilla give way to gentle cinnamon and nutmeg spice, with light oak, honey and toasted grain adding to the flavour.
• Finish: The medium-long to long finish fades on a malty note. Sweet and nutty flavours linger alongside subtle oak spice and a hint of caramel.

Distillery/Bottler:

Tormore Distillery is in Speyside. Its distinctive building has been protected since 1986. Elixir Distillers acquired the distillery in 2022 and began production there in January 2023 under distillery manager Polly Logan. The whisky in this single cask had been distilled long before then, in 2005.

Brothers Sukhinder and Rajbir Singh founded Elixir Distillers after working in the whisky trade. Sukhinder Singh bottled his first selected single malt cask in 2002, an undertaking that grew into The Single Malts of Scotland. For this range, the company selects individual Scottish malts and casks. In 2024, it released the matured Tormore from barrel 1630 as a bottling for Kirsch Import.
