Special Features:

First-fill casks and a restrained smoky influence shape this ten-year-old Speyside Single Malt. Benromach 10 matures exclusively in first-fill sherry and bourbon casks. Lightly peated barley malt contributes the delicate smoke that accompanies the fruit and creamy malt.

Forest berries, creamy malt and a lingering sherry character complement the gentle smoke. The whisky is offered at 43% in a 0.7-litre bottle with gift packaging. Its golden amber colour comes from cask maturation, without added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Sweet green apple and pear combine with creamy notes of dark honey on the nose. Soft vanilla and gentle smoke also develop.
• Palate: Malted grain and cooked fruit flavours feel smooth on the palate. Warm toffee complements them, accompanied by a hint of black cherry.
• Finish: The finish feels full-bodied, with malted grain and gentle smoke lingering.

Distillery/Bottler:

Benromach was founded in 1898 in Forres, Speyside. Gordon & MacPhail acquired the closed distillery in 1993 and re-equipped it: the stills, washbacks and mash tun all needed replacing. Distillation resumed in 1998, and the distillery officially reopened in October that year.

Benromach uses water from the Chapelton Springs for production. The wort ferments in larch washbacks with a combination of brewer’s and distiller’s yeast. Fermentation lasts three to five days, followed by distillation in a wash still and a spirit still. Traditional dunnage warehouses are also part of the distillery’s working methods.
