An extended rye whiskey cask finish shapes this Dalmunach: the whisky spent almost four years in 110-litre American oak casks from Koval in Chicago. Their sweet, spicy influence complements the creamy character of this Speyside malt.
Murray McDavid released this whisky, distilled in 2016, as a ten-year-old bottling in the Benchmark series in autumn 2026. It comes from casks 2201599, 2201982, 2201983 and 2400704, with a limited release of 582 bottles. It was bottled at 57.6% in 0.7-litre bottles, without chill filtration or added colouring.

Dalmunach is located in Carron in Speyside, on the site of the former Imperial Distillery, and opened in 2015. The shape of its modern building draws inspiration from barley. Reused bricks and timber from its predecessor connect it with the history of the site. Dalmunach still uses the former distillery’s spring water supply, combining it with modern heat recovery.
Independent bottler Murray McDavid was founded in 1994 by wine merchants Mark Reynier and Simon Coughlin together with Gordon Wright of Springbank. Their wine expertise informed cask selection from an early stage, particularly through maturation in different wine casks. Today, Coleburn in Speyside is the company’s home. There, the team monitors the development of its whiskies and uses freshly emptied casks from wine estates, bodegas and American whiskey producers for further maturation.
