The Chardonnay finish adds tropical fruit and warm spice to this Glen Moray's vanilla-led character. The single malt first matures in American oak casks before moving into casks that previously held Chardonnay white wine. These two stages bring together the distillery's classic cask influence and a fruity contribution from the wine casks.

This not-smoky whisky is offered at 40% alcohol in a 0.7-litre bottle with gift packaging. Its character ranges from apple and lime pie on the nose to caramelised tropical fruit on the palate. It can be enjoyed neat, over ice or in cocktails.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Spiced apple and pear notes mingle with lime pie and cinnamon sugar on the nose. Pear sweets and candied notes add to the sweet, fruity impression.
• Palate: The whisky feels smooth on the palate, with caramelised tropical fruit and sweet vanilla. A hint of freshly ground pepper provides a spicy counterpoint.
• Finish: Tropical fruit and nutty vanilla shape the intense, warm finish. Gentle cinnamon spice and delicate floral notes complete the impression.

Distillery/Bottler:

Glen Moray stands beside the River Lossie in Elgin, in Scotland's Speyside region. The distillery developed from the Elgin West Brewery, and spirit first flowed from its stills on 13 September 1897. Malted barley, water from the Lossie and distillation in traditional copper stills form the foundation of its whiskies. Maturation in American oak ex-bourbon casks is part of its established approach.

Glen Moray's exploration of different wine casks dates back to its beginnings: the earliest records already mention Marsala and sherry casks, among others. In 1999, the distillery released its first whiskies with Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc finishes. Today's Chardonnay finish continues this long-running development, in which cask selection and combination play a substantial role in shaping flavour.
