Special Features:

This miniature presents the regular Stauning R.Y.E. in a 0.05-litre tasting format. Stauning exclusively uses locally sourced Danish rye and barley. Both grains are floor-malted at the distillery, keeping the character of the raw materials at the forefront.

The mash is distilled twice in small, direct-fired copper stills. The resulting high temperatures promote a Maillard-like reaction that contributes toasted, caramel and nutty aromas. The whisky then matures for three to four years in new American white oak casks. Rye bread and pepper combine with vanilla, caramel and robust oak spice. The wider aromatic spectrum includes savoury notes of smoked bacon and smoky peat.

Stauning bottles the rye whisky at 48%, unfiltered, non-chill-filtered and without added colouring. The whisky is smooth and full-bodied. This gentle treatment may leave natural residue in the bottle.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals freshly baked rye bread, wine gums and a hint of pepper.
• Palate: On the palate, gentle dried fruit and ripe cherry combine with peppery oak, vanilla and citrus peel.
• Finish: The finish remains peppery and lingers, smooth, fruity and sweet, with toasted oak persisting.

Distillery/Bottler:

Stauning Whisky produces and bottles the rye whisky itself in Skjern on Denmark’s west coast. R.Y.E. was the distillery’s first officially released product and continues to embody its approach of combining local grain, floor malting, small direct-fired stills and maturation on site.
