Special features: This tequila is made from 100% blue Weber agave and produced at the renowned La Alteña Distillery in Arandas, Jalisco, Mexico. It is cooked in stone ovens, extracted with a mix of tahona and roller mill, and fermented in open wooden fermentation tanks with a yeast culture over 80 years old. The distillation then takes place in copper pot stills. Bottled at 55% ABV (110 proof), it offers an intense agave aroma and remarkable complexity.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Intense aromas of raw agave, white pepper, citrus fruits, and fresh mint.
- Palate: Bold flavor of cooked agave, accompanied by slightly smoky notes, pepper, anise, cinnamon, and a hint of apple.
- Finish: Long, spicy finish with lingering warmth and a dry, mineral note.
Distillery/Bottler: La Alteña Distillery, founded in 1937 by Don Felipe Camarena Hernández, is known for its traditional production methods and the use of 100% blue Weber agave from the Los Altos region in Jalisco. Under the leadership of Master Distiller Carlos Camarena, tequilas of the highest quality are produced here.
