Patrón Silver puts agave centre stage, without the influence of cask ageing. This clear tequila brings together distillates from two different processing methods: the cooked agave is crushed either in a roller mill or with a tahona, a heavy wheel made of volcanic stone. After separate fermentation and distillation, the two distillates are blended and adjusted to bottling strength.

Blue Weber agave, yeast and water form the ingredient base. Alongside fresh and cooked agave, there are notes of honeydew melon, lemongrass and citrus peel. Patrón Silver can be enjoyed neat or in cocktails such as a Margarita or Paloma. This version contains 0.7 litres at 40% alcohol and comes without gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, fresh and cooked agave meet lime peel and green apple. A hint of black pepper adds to the aroma.
• Palate: The tequila is smooth and sweet on the palate. Fresh and cooked agave combine with honeydew melon, lemongrass and citrus peel.
• Finish: The finish is clean and fresh, with a light peppery note.

Distillery/Bottler:

Patrón is made at Hacienda Patrón in the Mexican state of Jalisco. The distillery in the Los Altos highlands produces tequila exclusively for the Patrón brand. The agaves are cut by hand and cooked in traditional brick ovens. During the 79-hour cooking process, steam is applied in stages alternating with resting periods to ensure that the agaves cook evenly.

The two processing methods also differ during fermentation: agave juice from the roller mill goes into small pine fermentation vats, while the tahona method includes the agave fibres in fermentation as well. The two batches ferment separately for three days and are then each distilled twice in small copper pot stills. These stills were designed by the original Master Distiller, Francisco Alcaraz.
