Tapatio Blanco

Special features: Tapatio Blanco is produced at the La Alteña Distillery in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico. It was founded in 1937 and is currently run by Carlos Camarena, the grandson of the founder. The tequila is made from 100% Blue Weber agave and is characterized by traditional production methods, such as baking the agave in stone ovens and distilling in small copper pot stills. After double distillation, Tapatio Blanco ages for six months in stainless steel containers to preserve the fresh aromas.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose presents itself green and spicy with aromas of white beans, white pepper, cloves, and cinnamon, followed by black tea and apples. Floral notes develop in the glass and are complemented by an earthy note of new potatoes and a hint of creaminess.
• Palate: Intense and peppery, a rush of spices unfolds, followed by refreshing agave sweetness. The herbal notes from the nose appear in the background, allowing the full agave flavor to shine through.
• Finish: The finish is long and spicy, with a gentle sweetness emerging as the pepper subsides.

Distillery/Bottler: The La Alteña Distillery is known for its traditional methods and careful selection of agaves. It uses stone ovens to bake the agave and naturally occurring yeasts for fermentation. Carlos Camarena, the Master Distiller, leads the distillery with the goal of producing authentic and high-quality tequilas. Tapatio Blanco is an example of the dedication to quality and artisanal tradition in tequila production.
