The Retro Gin Fridge brings together eight different gins in a metal tin designed to look like a small refrigerator. It serves as gift packaging and has no cooling function. Each miniature contains 0.05 litres of gin at 46% alcohol.

The selection comprises Moonshot Gin, Yuzu Gin, Smoked Rosemary Gin, Rhubarb Triangle Gin, Spit-Roasted Pineapple Gin, Strawberry & Balsamico Gin, Finger Lime Gin and Cherry Gin. The short descriptions accompanying the miniatures also include serving suggestions.

The different flavours reflect distinct production choices. Yuzu Gin combines a hot-distilled gin base with yuzu peel cold-distilled under vacuum to preserve its aromatic character. For Spit-Roasted Pineapple Gin, whole pineapples are spit-roasted with Demerara sugar until caramelised, then combined with gin. Its sweet and tart pineapple notes meet caramel, while Yuzu Gin brings together citrus fruit and spicy juniper. Smoked Rosemary Gin adds rosemary, pepper and a subtle smoky note to the selection.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Yuzu Gin offers aromas of lemon and lime crème brûlée, alongside pine sugar. Cherry Gin evokes juicy cherry cake with vanilla ice cream on the nose. Spit-Roasted Pineapple Gin offers juicy pineapple reminiscent of a pineapple cake, accompanied by a little zesty freshness and light caramel.
• Palate: Yuzu Gin combines the gentle bitterness of grapefruit with sweetish lemon and lively lime. Cherry Gin tastes of juicy, sweet cherries with a little spice and a slightly tart citrus accent. Spit-Roasted Pineapple Gin pairs sweet and tart pineapple with pronounced sweet caramel notes.
• Finish: Yuzu Gin leaves juniper and black pepper with a pinch of cassia cinnamon. Cherry Gin leaves lingering sour-cherry tartness, joined once again by juniper. Spit-Roasted Pineapple Gin finishes with sweet pineapple and the gin’s dry, clean freshness.

That Boutique-y Gin Company is part of Atom Brands and combines independent gin bottling with creations of its own. Its range includes both collaborations with distilleries and brands such as Ableforth’s, Hernö and FEW Spirits, and its own recipes. Hand-illustrated labels are part of the brand’s visual identity, often drawing on stories or references from the world of gin.

The Moonshot Gin included in the set illustrates this experimental approach: its botanicals are sent into the stratosphere before processing. On their return, they are distilled under vacuum at room temperature. With the Retro Gin Fridge, the brand brings together different approaches from its range in small tasting bottles.
