This Tomintoul’s Madeira finish follows maturation in former bourbon casks made from American oak. Master Distiller Robert Fleming selected Madeira wine casks from Portugal’s Madeira Islands for the finishing period. Their influence adds pronounced fruit notes to the Single Malt.

The whisky was distilled in 2008 and bottled in 2023 after fifteen years of maturation. The edition comprises 6,654 individually numbered bottles worldwide. Bottled at 46% alcohol, it is neither chill-filtered nor coloured. The 0.7-litre bottle comes in a tube.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, sweet butterscotch and maple syrup meet blackberries. Ground coffee and dark chocolate complement the fruity, sweet aromas.
• Palate: The palate is juicy, with chocolate-covered raisins, stewed plums, candied peel and tiramisu. Liquorice, dark-syrup toffee and peppery oak spice add further flavours.
• Finish: The finish combines roasted nuts with espresso and cocoa. Dark fruit and notes of fennel and ginger spice add further accents.

Distillery/Bottler:

Founded in 1965, Tomintoul Distillery lies near the village of the same name in the Cairngorms National Park. It uses soft water from the Ballantruan spring and tall stills to produce its Single Malts. Master Distiller Robert Fleming comes from a Speyside family that has distilled whisky for four generations and has overseen Tomintoul for more than thirty years. Together with his team, he is responsible for production and the selection of casks for the different bottlings.
