Special Features:

This Tomintoul combines maturation in American oak ex-bourbon casks with a finish in Pedro Ximénez Sherry Butts. The casks used for the final maturation come from Fernando de Castilla in Andalusia. Their influence adds pronounced fruit notes to the single malt.

The whisky was distilled in 2005 and bottled at 46% after 17 years. This limited official bottling comprises 9,870 bottles. It is neither chill-filtered nor coloured and comes in a 0.7-litre bottle with a presentation tube.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Prunes and dates meet sweet spices on the nose. Dark sugar syrup and toasted oak add to the rich aroma.
• Palate: The whisky is sweet and powerful on the palate. Maple syrup, candied nuts, citrus marmalade, salted caramel and chocolate ganache mingle with cinnamon and cloves.
• Finish: The long finish is warming. Crunchy toffee and cocoa gradually give way to notes of dried figs and espresso.

Distillery/Bottler:

Founded in 1965, Tomintoul Distillery lies near the village of the same name in Cairngorms National Park. It uses soft water from the Ballantruan spring and tall stills to make its whisky. Master Distiller Robert Fleming comes from a family that has distilled whisky in Speyside for four generations. For more than three decades, he and his team have overseen the production of Tomintoul single malts.
