Finishing in selected Pedro-Ximénez sherry quarter casks from Spain gives this fourteen-year-old Tomintoul its rich fruitiness and sweetness. Distilled in 2009, the single malt first matured in American oak ex-bourbon casks before being finished in PX casks selected by Master Distiller Robert Fleming. Chocolate and nut notes meet dried fruit, coffee and baking spices.

The limited edition comprises 4,380 individually numbered bottles. The single malt is bottled at 46%, without chill filtration or added colouring.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is deep and rich. It evokes chocolate fudge cake, accompanied by maple syrup, dried fruit and cedarwood.
• Palate: On the palate, rich notes of pecan pie with maple syrup and chocolate ganache combine with raisins and roasted nuts. Ground coffee, tobacco and baking spices add to these impressions.
• Finish: The finish is long and warming. Tiramisu, dark chocolate and Brazil nuts linger on the tongue.

Distillery/Bottler:

Robert Fleming, a fourth-generation Speyside distiller, has overseen Tomintoul since 1990. Founded in 1965, the distillery stands on the Glenlivet Estate in the Cairngorms National Park and has belonged to Angus Dundee Distillers since August 2000. It produces the single malt for this limited distillery bottling.

Tomintoul uses water from the Ballantruan spring and tall stills. Its cask maintenance includes assessing the matured whisky before a cask is refilled: the team takes a sample from every emptied cask to evaluate its maturation performance. Casks whose maturation potential is exhausted can be refurbished in the cooperage. The distillery stores its whisky in both racked and palletised warehouses.
