Long maturation in ex-bourbon casks shapes this 25-year-old Tomintoul. Master Distiller Robert Fleming selects the casks whose whiskies are brought together for the bottling. Sweet, nutty and woody spice notes define its character, complemented by tobacco and stone fruit.

Other nuances recall toffee with dark sugar syrup, caramelised hazelnuts, coffee cake and crème caramel. Peach notes complement these sweet dessert flavours. In the glass, the whisky has a lustrous amber colour.

The miniature presents this mature Speyside single malt in a 0.05-litre bottle. This official bottling has an alcohol content of 40%, is not smoky and comes in a tube.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals pronounced notes of burnt sugar, oat biscuits and raisins. Toasted oak complements the sweet bouquet.
• Palate: On the palate, salted caramel, caramelised nuts and maple syrup combine with tobacco. Woody spice, stone fruit notes and vanilla complement the sweet flavour.
• Finish: The long finish lingers with coffee, caramel and burnt sugar.

Distillery/Bottler:

Founded in 1965, Tomintoul lies near its namesake village, the highest village in the Scottish Highlands, within Cairngorms National Park. The distillery uses soft water from the Ballantruan spring and tall stills. These two elements help underpin its gentle, balanced house style.

Robert Fleming comes from a family now in its fourth generation of whisky distilling in Speyside. He has been involved in the work at Tomintoul for more than three decades. Together with his team, he is responsible for producing the single malts and selecting the casks.
