This gift set offers a direct comparison of three Tomintoul Speyside single malts. It contains one 0.05-litre miniature each of Tlàth, Tomintoul 10 Year Old and Tomintoul 16 Year Old, all bottled at 40%. Tlàth marries whiskies of different ages matured in American ex-bourbon casks. Tomintoul 10 Year Old matures in ex-bourbon casks, while Tomintoul 16 Year Old is matured in selected American ex-bourbon casks.

In a direct comparison, Tlàth combines almond, honey and apple, while Tomintoul 10 Year Old brings brighter citrus and caramel accents. Tomintoul 16 Year Old deepens the profile with nougat, mocha, amaretti and toffee. The gift packaging thus provides a compact comparison of different ages and expressions of Tomintoul’s gentle, fruit-forward house style.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Tlàth offers aromas of shortbread, flaked almonds, honey and vanilla. Tomintoul 10 Year Old adds acacia honey, vanilla, wholegrain toast and woody spice, while Tomintoul 16 Year Old reveals heather honey, nougat, vanilla fudge, brioche and lemon zest.
• Palate: On the palate, Tlàth combines buttery biscuits and stewed apple with almond pastries and cinnamon. Tomintoul 10 Year Old shows crème caramel, toasted almond, lemon zest and grass, while Tomintoul 16 Year Old brings together crème brûlée, boiled sweets, mocha and amaretti.
• Finish: Tlàth finishes with toasted hazelnut, cocoa and oat biscuits. In Tomintoul 10 Year Old, the sweetness is followed by tingling spice, while Tomintoul 16 Year Old fades with shortbread, cinnamon icing and crunchy toffee.

Distillery/Bottler:

Tomintoul Distillery produces and bottles all three single malts itself as distillery bottlings. Angus Dundee Distillers acquired the distillery in August 2000.

Founded in 1965, Tomintoul Distillery is located in Cairngorms National Park and uses water from the Ballantruan spring. Its tall stills contribute to the gentle, balanced and fruit-forward house style. Master Distiller Robert Fleming heads the distillery, and the set presents this style through three expressions of different ages.
