Maturation in ex-bourbon casks shapes this Single Malt, distilled entirely on the Powerscourt Estate. Made from malted barley, it is triple-distilled and bottled at 46% without chill filtration. Its character brings together fruit and pastry notes with vanilla, caramel and spicy wood tones.

The launch in April marked Powerscourt's first Single Malt distilled entirely in-house and the return of Single Malt from County Wicklow after more than a hundred years. Master Distiller Paul Corbett brought together the distillery's own matured whiskeys for this release. The first 6,000 bottles were individually numbered.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, toffee and vanilla mingle with apple and pear. Cinnamon, nutmeg and other baking spices add to the aromas, while soft leather notes and buttery baked pastry crusts provide further accents.
• Palate: The palate reveals rich vanilla cream, gentle oak and salted caramel. Cereal biscuits and the caramelised apple note of a tarte Tatin complete the flavours.
• Finish: The finish is warming, with oak spice and soft leather notes. Almonds with honey and cooked fruit round out the lingering flavours.

Distillery/Bottler:

Powerscourt Distillery is located on the Powerscourt Estate in Enniskerry, County Wicklow. It occupies a converted historic mill building whose history dates back to the 1730s. The first distillation took place in 2018; Johnathan Graham and the Master Distiller at the time oversaw the start of production.

Designed and built by Forsyths in Scotland, the distillery uses copper pot stills. Powerscourt produces both malt and pot still whiskey, using double or triple distillation according to the style. Local barley and mountain spring water are among the foundations of its production. Fercullen is the distillery's whiskey brand.
