Special features: The 2023 edition of the Mars Tsunuki Single Malt impresses with a limited release that comes exclusively from the still young Tsunuki Distillery. The distillery was only opened in 2016 and benefits from a subtropical warm climate that gives the maturation a special depth. The whiskies aged for about six years in American bourbon barrels show an exciting balance between fruitiness and light peatiness at a robust 50% alcohol volume.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Sweet, citrus-like notes of Japanese medlar, reminiscent of jam, accompanied by subtle peat smoke, as well as aromas of honey and pancakes.
• Palate: Expressive and complex with fresh lemon peel, accompanied by a rich and complex malt flavor.
• Finish: Long-lasting full-bodied sweetness with a fine, pleasant bitterness.

Distillery/Bottler: Mars is an established brand that unites whiskies from various climate zones in Japan, creating multifaceted characters. The Tsunuki Distillery in the south of Kyushu Island was founded in 2016 and initially served mainly as a maturation facility. Meanwhile, more and more independent bottlings are coming from Tsunuki, revealing a diverse flavor world due to climatic influences and careful cask selection.
