Special Features:

This Japanese single malt is distilled by Sakurao Distillery itself. The whisky matures for at least three years in bourbon and sherry casks; the casks destined for Togouchi are stored in the underground maturation cellar at Akiota-Togouchi. Sakurao then composes the single malt and bottles it at 43%.

Bourbon and sherry casks provide the framework for a fruity, sweet character. Vanilla and bright apple fruit meet orange marmalade, dried fruit, nuts and brown sugar, while sweet spices and ginger provide a spicy counterpoint.

The 0.7-litre bottle comes in black-and-white gift packaging. The whisky is bottled without added colouring or chill filtration.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose is fresh, combining vanilla, apple and orange marmalade.
• Palate: The whisky is rounded and sweet on the palate, shaped by dried fruit and a distinct sugary sweetness.
• Finish: The lively, short finish combines sweet spices with ginger.

Distillery/Bottler:

Sakurao Distillery began operating in 2017. Its stills are designed to preserve fruity esters in the new make spirit. Casks destined for Togouchi are matured in the underground cellar at Akiota-Togouchi, where controlled conditions slow the extraction from the wood. Sakurao Brewery and Distilling Co., Ltd. operates the distillery and owns the Togouchi brand; Sakurao composes and bottles this single malt itself.
