Special Features:

The finish in former sake casks brings together Eigashima Shuzo’s whisky and sake traditions. Before blending, the malt and grain components matured in ex-Bourbon casks, sherry casks and new oak casks. Once married, the blend was finished in the sake casks.

The blend consists of equal parts malt and grain whisky. This limited edition is bottled at 50% in a 0.5-litre bottle; it is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colour.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose opens with malt, grain and puffed rice. Rye bread, pear, melon and plum combine with floral freshness, while pepper and ginger add spicy accents.
• Palate: The whisky is rounded and rich on the palate. Puffed rice and malt underpin flavours of ripe yellow fruit, orange and grapefruit, complemented by plum, floral nuances, vanilla, warming spices and a subtle smoky note.
• Finish: The long finish remains smooth and fruity. Spices, blossoms, malt and a hint of yeast linger.

Distillery/Bottler:

Tokinoka comes from the White Oak Distillery operated by Eigashima Shuzo Co., Ltd. Founded in Akashi in 1888, the company obtained its whisky-making licence in 1919. In 1984, Eigashima Shuzo built a dedicated whisky distillery next to its headquarters.

Eigashima Shuzo uses groundwater from its own wells to make its whisky. The new make matures in oak casks in warehouses at its coastal site in Akashi.
