Special Features:

Maturation in Pedro-Ximénez sherry casks gives Black Cannon dark fruit and sweet, creamy notes. This ten-year-old single malt comes from an unnamed Scottish distillery and is bottled by Master of Malt. Ripe plums, chocolate and dried fruit meet a distinctly spicy, dry, woody character.

The deeply dark whisky comes in a clear bottle with a light-coloured label and a black wax seal. It has an alcohol content of 40.4% and is offered in a 0.7-litre bottle without gift packaging.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals ripe plums, dark cherries, malt and chocolate. Vanilla and caramel round out the aromas, while cinnamon and subtle oak add delicate spicy accents.
• Palate: On the palate, soft toffee and honey combine with the pronounced sweetness of dates and raisins. The body feels creamy, accompanied by toasted malt and restrained oak spice.
• Finish: The long finish brings out cinnamon and a lively ginger heat. Liquorice, dry oak and malty notes linger on the palate.

Distillery/Bottler:

Master of Malt is part of the British Atom Group. Within the group, Atom Brands develops spirits and manages its own brands, while Master of Malt runs the online retail business and offers its own whisky bottlings. In 2025, Master of Malt celebrated its fortieth anniversary and relaunched its independent bottling range.

Black Cannon is one of the projects of Sam Simmons, head of whisky at Atom Brands. Around 2020, the company created Atom Labs as a space for new ideas: products are developed there, tested through Master of Malt and then refined or discontinued in response to feedback. In 2025, Simmons introduced Black Cannon alongside the Irish Harp of Darkness as two new dark whiskies.
