Special Features:

A finish in a small Pedro Ximénez sherry octave shapes this anniversary edition of Dailuaine. Duncan Taylor selected it to mark Kirsch Import’s 50th anniversary. The compact cask format encourages an intensive exchange with the wood, adding dark fruit notes, sherry sweetness and oak spice to the Speyside Single Malt.

The whisky was distilled on 14 July 2017 and bottled on 14 September 2026 after nine years of maturation. Cask 10952275 yielded 86 numbered bottles. It is bottled at 52.4% alcohol, without colouring or chill filtration.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Dark dried fruit, malt and sherry sweetness emerge first. Raisins and ripe plums are accompanied by caramel, chocolate and a hint of cocoa.
• Palate: The whisky feels full-bodied and concentrated on the palate. Intense dried fruit and sweet PX notes combine with nutty spice and delicate liquorice. Dry oak gives the flavour structure.
• Finish: The long finish is dry and spicy. Dark fruit remains present as oak and sherry linger warmly.

Distillery/Bottler:

Dailuaine lies near Aberlour in Speyside and was founded in 1852 by William Mackenzie. Much of its production goes into blended Scotch, including Johnnie Walker. Independent bottlings therefore offer another way to explore this distillery’s Single Malt.

Duncan Taylor began in Glasgow in 1938 as a cask trading business and now operates as an independent bottler in Huntly. Its facilities there include warehouses, a bottling plant and its own cooperage. The coopers repair and rejuvenate casks by hand, while regular tastings monitor maturation. For The Octave, Duncan Taylor uses small casks to give already matured whiskies additional cask influence during a further finishing period.
