Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 59.7% | Chill filtration: No | Colouring: No
Special Features:
Full maturation in a First Fill Pedro Ximénez Sherry Hogshead defines this Edradour. The Single Malt was distilled on 29 January 2020 and matured for six years in cask number 36. Best Dram bottled it on 20 July 2026 as part of the Finest Whisky Flavours range. The single cask yielded 313 bottles.
Raisins and ripe plums are joined by malt candy and dark chocolate. Pronounced sherry fruit combines with a full, syrupy mouthfeel, spicy oak and subtle smoky, peaty nuances. Despite its powerful 59.7% strength, the whisky tastes mellow.
The whisky was bottled at cask strength, without chill filtration or added colouring. The bottle contains 0.7 litres and is supplied without gift packaging.
Tasting Notes:
- Nose: Concentrated raisins, ripe plums and intense sherry notes lead the nose. Spicy oak and a hint of smoke complement the dark fruit.
- Palate: The whisky is full-bodied and syrupy on the palate. The sweetness of dark dried fruit and dense sherry flavours meet pronounced oak spice and gentle smokiness with peaty touches.
- Finish: Sweet raisin notes persist through the long finish. Gentle woody spice lingers alongside delicate smoky accents.
Distillery/Bottler:
Edradour was founded in 1825 by a group of local farmers. The original farm distillery retains unusually traditional equipment, including an open cast-iron mash tun, a Morton Refrigerator for cooling the wort and Oregon pine washbacks. Distillation uses two copper pot stills and worm tubs. In these condensers, vapours pass through coiled copper pipes cooled by water from the Edradour Burn.
Best Dram is responsible for this independent bottling. Behind the range is Michel Reick, also known as Whisky Druid, who has been bottling whiskies under that name since 2014. He personally selects individual casks in Scotland. Cask strength, natural colour and the absence of chill filtration are central to the concept. Alongside whiskies matured entirely in one cask type, the range also includes bottlings with various finishes.
