Special Features:

This Invergordon single grain spent its entire 16-year maturation in a single Oloroso sherry puncheon. It was distilled in September 2009, and Master of Malt bottled 828 bottles from the cask at 52.2% in March 2026. Each bottle contains 0.7 litres. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and contains no added colouring.

Sweet baking and vanilla notes provide a consistent theme: candied almonds and pecans meet apple and very ripe tropical fruit. Coffee, toasted brown sugar, nectarine, hazelnut chocolate and golden syrup add further accents on the palate and throughout the long finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals candied almonds and pecans, light vanilla cake with icing and crumble, dried apple pieces, and very ripe tropical fruit. Buttery pastries, vanilla cream and a hint of dark sugar syrup complement the aromas.
• Palate: On the palate, sweet coffee, milk stout, toasted brown sugar and vanilla cream combine with grilled nectarine, hazelnut chocolate and stroopwafels.
• Finish: A rich, rum-like sweetness of cake and golden syrup lingers throughout the long finish, leaving coffee sweets and pronounced candied nut notes behind.

Distillery/Bottler:

Invergordon Distillery was founded in 1959 and began operating in 1961 in the town of Invergordon on the Cromarty Firth. It uses maize, malted and unmalted barley, and Scottish wheat for its single grain whisky, with water drawn from Loch Glass. Column stills standing more than 15 metres tall provide continuous distillation and produce a clear, finely structured grain spirit whose character develops considerably through cask maturation.

Master of Malt bottled this whisky as part of its own range of independent single-cask releases. The company began in 1985 as an independent bottler and mail-order retailer specialising in single malts. For its single-cask range, the team tastes numerous cask samples and selects only some of them for bottling; the whiskies are released without added caramel colouring or chill filtration.
