This single grain from North British Distillery spent 34 years in a single refill Oloroso sherry butt. Signatory Vintage selected cask 262086 for its Cask Strength Collection. Distilled on 2 September 1991, the whisky was bottled on 28 January 2026 at 52.9%, yielding 442 numbered bottles. Alongside dried fruit and oak spice, the grain whisky’s sweet cereal notes remain discernible.

The whisky is neither chill-filtered nor coloured, and comes in a metal tin.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose brings vanilla fudge, raisins, ripe plums and polished oak. Toasted almonds, orange peel, coconut and gentle spice come with a subtle honeyed sweetness.
• Palate: The whisky feels silky and full-bodied on the palate. Toffee and sweet cereal notes meet dried fruit, dark chocolate and toasted nuts, joined by spice, a little oak and a pleasant Oloroso warmth.
• Finish: Dry fruit notes, nuts and oak spice linger through the long finish. Vanilla sweetness, cocoa and a gentle sherry note also persist.

Distillery/Bottler:

Andrew Usher, William Sanderson and John Crabbie founded North British in 1885 to secure grain whisky for their own brands. The distillery began operating in Edinburgh in 1887. It still uses maize and distils its grain spirit in continuously operating patent, or Coffey, stills. Its grain whisky is also used in blended Scotch; this single cask presents it as a single grain in its own right.

Signatory Vintage is an independent bottler founded by Andrew Symington and his brother in 1988. The company acquired Edradour Distillery in 2002 and had moved its entire operation to the distillery’s Pitlochry site by 2007. For this release, North British produced the whisky; Signatory Vintage selected and bottled the whisky from the cask.
