Special Features:

An American oak Oloroso Sherry Butt shapes this anniversary release from Port Askaig. Jammy red fruit and citrus notes meet rye bread and a coastal character reminiscent of barbecue smoke. The whisky comes from an unnamed Islay distillery and was selected exclusively for Kirsch Import's 50th anniversary.

The single malt was distilled on 14 March 2013 and bottled in 2026 at 13 years old. It comes from cask 4419. Bottled at 53.2% in a 0.7-litre bottle, it is neither chill-filtered nor coloured.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: On the nose, smoke and dark fruit mingle with leather and spices. A delicate salty maritime note completes the aromas.
• Palate: The whisky is powerful and dense on the palate. Sherry sweetness, dried fruit and oak accompany well-integrated smoke.
• Finish: The long finish is warm and spicy. Smoke, tart fruit and dry woody notes linger.

Distillery/Bottler:

Port Askaig is the creation of independent bottler Elixir Distillers, which launched the brand in 2009. Its name refers to the port village on Islay's north-eastern coast beside the Sound of Islay, a historic gateway to the island.

Work on the brand also includes further maturation of selected Islay single malts: Elixir Distillers takes on young whiskies and transfers them into carefully chosen cask types. Master Blender Oliver Chilton oversees the maturation and blending of Port Askaig bottlings. This approach to cask maturation aims to balance peat character with fruit notes.
