For this Highland Laird release, Bartels Whisky selected a single bourbon hogshead, cask number 301482. Distilled on 23 April 2014, the Royal Brackla matured for twelve years before being bottled in 2026 at a cask strength of 56.2% ABV. The cask yielded 125 bottles of 0.7 litres each.

The whisky is neither chill-filtered nor coloured. Maturation in the bourbon hogshead brings together Royal Brackla’s bright fruit notes, vanilla and creamy caramel sweetness; the wood becomes more pronounced in the finish.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: Ripe apple and pear mingle with light malt and vanilla on the nose. A hint of citrus adds freshness, alongside a delicate floral note.
• Palate: The whisky is creamy and sweet on the palate, with caramel, toffee and vanilla. Subtle wood notes give it structure, accompanied by a light, bright spice.
• Finish: Wood and vanilla linger through a medium-long to long finish. Mild spice accompanies the clean, dry end.

Distillery/Bottler:

Royal Brackla was founded in 1812 on the Cawdor Estate in the Scottish Highlands. In 1833, it became the first Scotch whisky distillery to receive a Royal Warrant from King William IV. Its nickname, “The King’s Own Whisky”, stems from this distinction.

Bartels Whisky Ltd. is an independent bottler based in Great Britain. It selects single malt casks for its Highland Laird series and generally bottles the whisky from them as single-cask releases at cask strength. The Highland Laird name can be traced back more than 50 years and is linked to Bartels through the family business; the company revived bottling under the name in 2014.
