Volume: 0.7 litres | Alcohol content: 40% | Chill filtration: Yes | Colouring: Yes
Special Features:
The 15-year-old Speyburn matures in bourbon and sherry casks made from American and Spanish oak and is bottled at 40% alcohol. The bourbon casks contribute vanilla character, while the sherry casks add forest fruit notes.
Dark chocolate, warm spices, raisins and candied citrus shape the nose. Orange, toffee, vanilla, cherry, cinnamon and oak follow on the palate; the finish is creamy, warming and long-lasting.
Tasting Notes:
Distillery/Bottler:
John Hopkins founded Speyburn in 1897 in the narrow valley of the Granty Burn. Charles C. Doig designed the three-storey distillery to follow the slope of the hillside. Speyburn remains the only distillery to use water from the Granty Burn.
Inver House acquired Speyburn in 1992. The brand belongs to Inver House Distillers Ltd. The 15-year-old Speyburn is an official distillery bottling.
