Special Features:

This bottling combines Tamnavulin’s Speyside malt with a small selection of four octaves that previously held Pedro Ximénez sherry. The whisky was distilled in May 2013 and bottled in March 2026 at twelve years of age. North Star Spirits combined the contents of the four refill PX octaves into a batch limited to 290 bottles. It was bottled at a natural cask strength of 57.9%, without chill filtration or added colouring.

The release is part of Cask Series 027, with which North Star Spirits celebrated its tenth anniversary. The whisky opens with orange marmalade and toffee apple, followed by creamy red berries, before chocolate, marzipan and a note reminiscent of polished wood define the finish.

Distillery/Bottler:

Tamnavulin is located in the Speyside village of Tomnavoulin and opened in 1966. The distillery stands on the site of a carding mill whose history dates back to the 16th century; its preserved wooden waterwheel now appears on the bottles. Following a temporary closure in 1995, Tamnavulin resumed operations in 2000 to test its equipment and underwent extensive refurbishment in 2007. In 2010, the distillery altered the shape of its stills to produce a fuller, deeper new-make spirit suited to maturation influenced by wine casks.

North Star Spirits was founded in Glasgow in 2016 by Iain Croucher and operates as a family-run independent bottler. The company selects casks of Scotch whisky, handles the bottling and also transfers whisky into sherry casks. For this Tamnavulin, North Star combined the contents of four refill PX octaves as part of Cask Series 027.
