A finish in a Ruby Port wine cask shapes this Teaninich from Duncan Taylor’s The Octave range. Created for Kirsch Import’s 50th anniversary, the edition combines fruity Port influences with the small Octave cask format.

The Single Malt was distilled on 6 May 2015 and bottled after eleven years on 16 September 2026. Cask number 6750907 yielded a total of 66 bottles. The whisky retains its natural colour and is bottled at 55.4% in a 0.7-litre bottle.

Tasting Notes:

• Nose: The nose reveals ripe red berries and sweet fruit notes. A hint of vanilla accompanies restrained spice and a subtle malty note.
• Palate: The whisky is full-bodied and powerful on the palate. Dark fruit and Port sweetness sit alongside balanced wood and spice notes.
• Finish: The fruity finish lingers and is slightly dry. Oak spice and hints of dried berries remain.

Distillery/Bottler:

Teaninich is located in the Scottish Highlands. One distinctive feature of the distillery is how it processes its malt: since 2000, it has used a hammer mill and a mash filter instead of a conventional mash tun. This process produces particularly clear wort.

Independent bottler Duncan Taylor is responsible for selecting and bottling this whisky. The family business began in Glasgow as a whisky cask merchant and broker. Over the decades, it built up extensive stocks of Scottish malt and grain whiskies. Since moving to Huntly in 2014, it has had its own cask storage and bottling facilities there, along with a cooperage. For The Octave, Duncan Taylor focuses on finishing whisky in small casks.
